That famous drawing of Jack Benny

Postby CBSTelevisionCity » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:05 am

Unless I've overlooked it somewhere, somehow, I'm unfamiliar with the story, if any, behind the famous pencil or charcoal sketch seen at the beginning of Jack Benny's shows. This art, in my opinion, is as closely identified with Jack Benny as that crazy angular caricature of Jerry Lewis ( which Jerry's used ever since the Colgate Comedy Hour! ). Can someone provide me with a link which will direct me to the history of this Jack Benny sketch? I'd like to know who drew it. Also, did Jack Benny comission it? Or did Jack see it and like it? Please, someone, clue me in!

I am also aware that this artwork appeared on the souvenir programs Jack had printed up for his personal appearances in the 1950s, '60s and '70s.

Thanks!

Wow, thank you Sportsmen Quartet!
That's exactly what I wanted to know.
I am a bit saddened that Bouche passed away so long ago, though.
