i live in L.A. too and sometimes in the wee small hours of the morning with just my regular nothing special am radio i can her hear stations from as far away as idaho, montana, colorado, nevada, new mexico, a couple in the san francisco area, and probably a few others i can't remember right now. every time i turn on radio or broadcast tv it seems like a miracle to me that sound and moving pictures can be transmitted invisibly thru the air!

From LA I thought it was cool to pick up the Denver Bears minor league baseball team. Don't know if the Colorado Rockies can be heard. And when I got Oklahoma City, they were playing "California Girls" by the Beach Boys, so that didn't accomplish much.
I'm fascinated by KTNN (T-he N-avajo N-ation) at 660 AM from Window Rock, Arizona. A mix of country music, commercials for pickup truck dealers, syndicated talk, and 10-minute native songs with drums. I think there's Hopi content too. For some reason it kinda cracks me up to listen to announcements which are completely unintelligible to me, except when they get to a proper name such as "Dwight D. Eisenhower Community Center" or "Fourteenth District Organizing Committee."
I used to hear Phoenix Suns basketball in Navajo (I think.)
