Definitely Bogie, and for some reason to me Mary resembles Arlene Francis.

Of all the gin joints in all the towns, I had to be stuck at the table next to Mary Livingstone!

OK, Bogart was clearly WAY too easy.

Next - it's abstract!

The shirt Jack bought for something like 99 cents at the May Co. when he "met" Mary?

I got one recently, so I'll abstain on this one. But since Bing's not there, what they're NOT doing is getting in trouble with the sponsors! :)

VACA SANTA! Is that a pic from my family's favorite Jack Benny Program? Did Danny, Frankie, Groucho and show up at a Palm Beach broadcast to "sing" Jack's song, When You Say I Beg Your Pardon? My kids and I always wished there was film of that hilarious yet undeniably tragic musical event. If this is a still of that mayhem, while it's not film, it's a treasure to us.
That's funny, Norman Krasna loved that joke.

Woops, I missed one. I neglected to mention a presumably talented contributor to of the quartet. Sorry George!

Benny Babylon

Postby shimp scrampi » Wed Mar 18, 2009 9:20 am

After that fond memory, let's take a look at the seedier side of the Benny legacy. Here's a newspaper shot (again, sorry about the grainy quality) of someone being arrested. Who is it? The Lindsay Lohan of her day? This was a bit shocking/amusing to me when I found it. The person in question is the one in the center.

Is it a grainy undercover shot of the Grammar Police, arresting Mary ("Butcher The English Language For The Sake of a Laugh") Livinstone for her "sweeze chiss" and "grass reek" blunders?

Fred, you're in the right family ... :) and it is indeed a real photo. Though I should correct it to say that this is not the arrest, but the day after this woman spent a night in the clink.

Didn't Joanie and Sandy Burns get in a youthful scrape with the long arm of the Palm Springs law? My GUESS is Joanie.
