Hey, don't actually slug me, I'm just reviving Dennis' running gag! Before the next pictorial poser is posted, I'd like to know if anyone else would enjoy a chance to ask those lovely ladies who actually shared the radio stage with Jack in the cast about the goings on that preceded and followed the broadcast. Did Dennis warm up in the hall? Did Jack have fun with the crowd? Was somebody counting down the seconds to air? (You can sometimes hear the very end of a Ed McMahon type holler as the band strikes the opening note of the brilliant Yankee Doodle\Love in Bloom theme. What was that all about?) I've seen a PHC live three couple times and the thrill of the live broadcast (as Dennis might say) fascinates me. Maybe these stories have already been told; if so, please, where can I find them?
That's funny, Norman Krasna loved that joke.

I agree Moose, those warmups would be fun to hear. The Phil Harris-Alice Faye ones are out there in circulation.

Anyway, since we're talking Dennis, why not make him the subject of the next mystery photo. Who's he tending to here, and what is their relationship?

I agree she does look a little petrified, but I'll respond, Sorry, Wrong Actress, it's not Stanwyck.

OK, hint - this woman was (rather, is - she's another ageless wonder who's still with us) a well-known performer in her own right, but actually was related (by marriage) to Dennis, thus the "relationship" part of the clue is literal.

Then I guess it would have to be a cadaverous Ann Blythe, who looked much better hawking Twinkies a few decades back.

Yep, Ann Blyth of MILDRED PIERCE, KISMET, and Twinkies. She was Dennis' sister-in-law, having married his brother, James McNulty. Ann got a bout of laryngitis while performing in Vegas in 1954, and Dennis flew out to sub in for her, and administer a little lemon and honey, or whatever the home brew shown here is. Maybe something Phil provided.

Wow. I would have bet a dollar seventy five that Dennis was pictured with a department store mannequin. My apologies to Ms. Blyth! I wish I had time to come up with a pic to ponder. Great fun this game!

Jack with a motley assortment of celebs in the early '70s. How many can you name?

I recognize three of them. Isn't that Billy Graham behind Jack?

I'll be mad when I hear the names of the lady and the guy on the right, because I know who they are, but obviously not well enough. The guy reminded me of Chuck Connors, but I don't think that's right.

Yep, you got Billy Graham. The guy on the right isn't Chuck Connors.

Glen Campbell on the right. Is that the boxer Archie Moore in the back next to Billy Graham?

Well done mrdj! You got Glen Campbell. Surprisingly enough, you also got the profession right but not the name on the other gent - he's a boxer.

Is the boxer Sugar Ray Robinson?

Any clues on the familiar looking lady?

Yes, Sugar Ray Robinson!

For a hint: So, an Evangelist, a Pugilist, a Vocalist meet Jack Benny in an airport. There they see someone who once co-starred with Jack's old buddy George Burns, holding a flag.
