Jack Benny's last television season in color? Is this true?

Postby Jack Benny » Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:04 am

From Wikipedia:

Although NBC televised his shows in color (after 14 years of black and white shows on CBS), the network dropped Benny at the end of the season.

Which is why Wikipedia should never be trusted.

So it's definitely not true? If so, I'll change the wikipedia page.

Could the color episodes be referring to the network specials he did later on?

Probably not..Jack's last season as a regular series on NBC was 1964-65..All indications are that the show was in Black and White.

In 1965-66, nearly all NBC's prime time shows were in color, with the exception of I Dream of Jeannie and Convoy.

I have the first Jack Benny Special from 1965 with Bob Hope, The Beach Boys, Elke Sommer and Walt Disney as a B&W Kinescope, though it was filmed in color..
