Bugs Baseball

Postby JohnM » Tue Jul 06, 2010 4:22 am

Sorry if this has been posted before. I'm trying to figure out if the play by play announcer on this classic Bugs Bunny baseball clip is Frank Nelson or Mel Blanc. He can be heard near the beginning and near the end of the clip.

Also, at the very end, the Statue of Liberty (and Bugs) pulls a Rochester.

Thank you for sharing that clip. I think the announcer is Frank Nelson at the very beginning, but later in the play by play, it switches to Mel. It was a nice surprise to hear Bea Benaderet chime in at the end.

Good catch. I didn't recognize that as Bea, but according to IMDB you are correct. That site also says that the second announcer is indeed Mel Blanc, but the first announcer is Tedd Pierce.

The announcer at the beginning sounds like Frank Graham to me, but some insist it's Tedd Pierce. Pierce is a little raspier to me ear.

Just to confirm - when the Statue of Liberty and Bugs at the end say "that's what he said! That's what the man said -- he said that!"

This is a nod to Rochester's bit on the Benny show, right? Or was this bit common in the 40's and not just a Benny thing?
