Kenny Baker.

The article on Kenny Baker in this Billboard magazine is not very flattering. His attitude must have been bad if it actually made it to print.

SQ, thanks very much. The Billboard is loaded with interesting material about the era, especially when it comes to agencies and sponsors. Even more fascinating is anything to do with television during WW2; it's a completed neglected area of study. Everyone seems to think the there wasn't any TV then and it somehow burst forth in 1948.

Wow! Pretty harsh! I am very surprised they were that candid. If that is all true, he must have been very hard to handle. I find it hard to believe that Allen would let someone go like that unless he was at his wits end. I like the Delmarco sisters (however it's spelled) who I think were Baker's replacement. They had a nice Andrews Sisters sound.

Thanks for posting that link. I have the Billboard magazines in Googlebooks bookmarked on my computer, and I go read them from time to time. Obviously I hadn't looked at that issue yet. There is some great info in those mags...and it's free!!!

What happened to Kenny Baker after he left Fred Allen's show?

Thanks for the post. That was an interesting article on Kenny Baker. I believe he was always known for his attitude and being hard to handle. But this was a harsh article. I was also interested in the article about Petrillo a few pages down. It was a case against him because he refuse to hire and use Negro talent according to the article. Thought that was interesting. Thanks again for the post. I love reading old magazines. Its like getting a peak back in time.

Could his attitude have been a reason why he left the Benny program?
