"J-E-L-L-O" Introduction singers

Postby Flash Benny » Wed Feb 23, 2011 8:58 pm

Who sang the J-E-L-L-O introduction during the Jell-O years? Did they actually have a group that sat in the wings through the entire show waiting just to sing that few-second ditty twice in 30 minutes?

And, was Kenny and/or Dennis singing the tenor part of this ditty with the group during their time on the show? (I seem to hear a difference in the tenor voice in the jingle after Dennis replaces Kenny)

It sure sounds like Kenny Baker on the '30s shows.
"Hey, Jackson, does Fred Allen always talk through his nose?"

"Yes, Phil. He's the only comedian who tells 'em and smells 'em at the same time!"

I knew I had seen this deja vu before! It happened in the old board posts. The thread started with: The Jello Singers which was posted on October 06, 2002.
That's funny, Norman Krasna loved that joke.

So, after all this time, does anyone have an answer? Is it Kenny Baker's voice?

Yes, I was just looking at something last night that referenced Baker doing it. Probably on this site. Sorry, I can't remember exactly where.

In either the 1-21-40 show or the 1-28-40 show, Jack mentions that he would "kill" Dennis if he wasn't part of the quartet...

I wonder who the other 3 guys were.

I also wondered about who sang J-E-L-L-O. And I also at times hear the current tenor in the group. I wonder if it was actually the whole cast? Hmmm... it is a shame it was so long ago, or we could ask people who often went to watch the broadcasts...

I'd put money on Kenny being part of the group. To me, his voice is unmistakable, and is noticeably absent after he leaves the show.
