Happy Birthday Bill Days!

Postby TheSportsmenQuartet » Fri Apr 02, 2010 11:47 am

Happy 99th birthday to Bill Days (April 2, 1911 - May 6, 2002), top tenor of The Sportsmen Quartet. Days was also a solo performer, getting a good break singing on Groucho Marx's radio show in the '40s. On film, he sang the title song in NIGHT AND DAY, and appeared in A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, THE GREAT ZIEGFELD, TOO MANY GIRLS, LADY AND THE TRAMP (of course, voice only, singing opening song), and STAR DUST, among many, many others. STAR DUST was his best solo showing, singing "Orchids in the Moonlight" on screen. He also dubbed Mark Stevens in RHAPSODY IN BLUE. Not only was Bill Days a talented singer, he was a very nice and generous man.

Here is his solo turn in Disney's "Lady and the Tramp": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzeMoGBr3NE
