Hi folks,
Since you were good at triangulating the 4/22/62 date (and yes, I've confirmed that it was not in the syndication package...sorry), here's a new challenge for you.
When transferring some additional shows (stay tuned to the video library listing), I discovered I had a short clip from an unknown Jack Benny Program. It has Jack standing "behind the scenes" rehearsing "Ida (Sweet as Apple Cider)" with a small combo, which includes Frankie Remley, Sammy Weiss, and Shorty the trumpeter. Jack is wearing a white turtleneck (unusual, since he usually appeared in collar shirts). An offstage voice says the trumpet is too loud, so the trumpeter takes Sammy's toupee off and uses it as a mute. Then they say they're getting glare from Sammy's head, so the makeup man sprays it.
That's all I've got, which is not quite enough to easily date the thing. Anyone recall what this show goes on to be in the larger plotline. I'd guess it's in the 1956-59 timeframe.
