Rebroadcasts of the radio show last years i.e 55/01/23 NOT?

I'm not convinced that a show that did 2 performances nearly 3/4 of each year for nearly 20 years, then one show, would have reruns when transcriptions were available. This means that perhaps too many shows are marked as repeat broadcast of (snother date) in 39 forever vol 2.

The first ecample I'll submit for consideration is the show of 55/01/23.
I suggest it is NOT an exact rebroadcast of a previous show.
From the scripts.....(American tobacco archive copies)
55/01/23
Transcribed Jan 25, 1953
53/01/25
Transcribed Jan 22, 1953 on the top page, Jan 21, 1953 following pages

The are identical up 'till Dennis's segment (page 4 of script)
in 55...Dennis wants a rehearsal at his house
In 53... Dennis has a sandwich on his head

The vault lines are also different
in 55..my copy of the script is missing page 5 but there is an aligator bit on the file (3 walets and a belt)
At the end he just leaves.
in 53...much shorter trip to the vault, Jack gives Ed a Merilyn Monroe calendar and there is talk about the tv show on pages 7-8

For Dennis'a song...
in 53 outside of heaven
in 55 three coins in the fountain

My copy of 53 is an AFRS version, 55 network but I do have files that are similar to these differences in the scripts

From here, as the timeings are way off, there muct be differences in the 2nd routine but at this time I'm going on to other shows. My opinion there really weren't that many "rebroadcastrs" if any.

I have noticed on at least one show that they were editing together other shows (Easter Parade), or possibly an old show with a couple new segments. So you may be finding partial rebroadcasts. I'd recommend laying the audio of the common segments side-by-side to see if the inflection or spurious commentary is exactly the same.

I'll go along with that. Some of these are partial rebroadcasts perhaps, which is why I'm asking here and consulting scripts. What the scripts seem to suggest is in 53 they recorded a show, a few days later they record it again, changing a few lines, droping in a new song, and keeping it on the shelves for 2 years. That doesn't make much sense either.
AFRS changes stuff in their versions, Best Of Benny edits in and out the various refererences to the tv shows, stations edit out the cig commercials and sometimes put local material in, sometimes not, and collectors get reels mixes in dubbing and editing and restoring. I also notice ALL the shows you've been asking about the scripts are missing, or out of order, or shuffled before they were copied at the tobacco archive... So even the more serious researcher is best off comparing notes and making real clear what sources they are looking at and perhpas when. Also scripts have marks-ups where, for example the Xing out of a section didn't copy well. Was it meant to be Xed out, or did they say that routine that date?

Changes, often minor were made a lot; it's not real clear when or why. But yes, I've heard many of those partial rebroadcasts when double tracked. I consider those not rebroadcasts and perhaps worth noting.

The tobacco scripts are "as broadcast", so I would imagine that an extra copy of the air script was provided to the sponsor and a secretary sat and compared the word-for-word broadcast with the script, Xing out or adding things. Some things that were completely different than the script, like Bob Hope's long monologues or the gang getting completely away from the script, were typed on separate pages and inserted (but I'm sure you've seen this).
